Messi Didn’t Lose — Football Did: Zlatan Blasts Inter Miami After 4-0 Humiliation.
Lionel Messi’s much-anticipated reunion with Paris Saint-Germain turned into a nightmare during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Inter Miami suffered a brutal 4-0 loss at the hands of the French giants — a result that not only knocked them out of the tournament but also sparked a storm of criticism and memes across social media.
But while fans rushed to blame Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had other ideas.
Highlights:
- Zlatan blames Inter Miami, not Messi, for PSG loss.
- Messi playing with statues, not real teammates, says Zlatan.
- MLS level too low for Messi’s true talent.
Messi Didn’t Lose, Inter Miami Did!
In a fiery interview with Foot Mercato, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Messi’s former Barcelona teammate, came to the Argentine legend’s defense. He didn’t hold back when assessing Inter Miami’s performance — or lack thereof.
“Messi plays with statues, not teammates!” Zlatan exclaimed. “If he was in a real team, in Paris, Manchester, in any of the big teams, you’d have seen the real lion.”
Zlatan dismissed the idea that Messi was past his prime, calling out the low standard of play in Major League Soccer and the lack of support Messi gets from his team.
“He’s Surrounded by Players Running Like They’re Carrying Cement”
Despite the scoreline, Zlatan believes Messi still possesses the skill and fire that once made him the best in the world — but he emphasized that greatness can’t shine without the right environment.
“Messi only plays because he loves the game, because he can still do what 99% of players can’t! But he’s surrounded by those who run around like they’re carrying bags of cement!”
He further mocked the lack of tactical discipline in the league:
“There are no coaches, no stars, not even players who understand how to move without the ball!”
“Messi Is Still Messi”
Zlatan warned critics not to write Messi off. According to him, the problem lies with the team, not the player.
“Be careful — if you give him a real team, he’ll burn down the stadium again!”
In Zlatan’s view, the defeat wasn’t just Inter Miami’s failure — it was a “defeat of football” itself.
