  • Anshul Kamboj added to India’s squad as replacement.

India has suffered a significant setback ahead of the fourth Test match against England in the ongoing 5-match Test series. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and pacer Arshdeep Singh have been ruled out due to injuries sustained during training sessions.

Nitish Kumar Reddy Ruled Out of Entire Series

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who played the second and third Tests for India, sustained a ligament injury in his left knee during a gym training session on July 20. Subsequent scans confirmed the severity, and he has been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the series. His absence will be a significant loss, especially in light of India’s efforts to level the series.

Arshdeep Singh to Miss Fourth Test

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will also miss the fourth Test after injuring his thumb during a practice session on July 17. With the bowling attack already under pressure, his absence adds further challenges for Team India.

Replacement Announced: Anshul Kamboj Joins the Squad

The BCCI confirmed the news on Monday, announcing that Anshul Kamboj has been added to the squad as a replacement. Kamboj will be looking to make a mark if given an opportunity in the upcoming matches.

BCCI Tweet: “Squad Update: Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of the series. Arshdeep Singh ruled out of fourth Test. The Men’s Selection Committee has added Anshul Kamboj to the squad.”

India Trails 1-2 in the Series

The fourth Test will begin on July 23 at Manchester. India is currently trailing 1-2 in the series and will be eyeing a comeback to level it. The absence of two key players makes the task more challenging.

Updated Indian Squad for 4th Test:

  • Captain: Shubman Gill
  • Vice-captain & Wicketkeeper: Rishabh Pant
  • Players: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj

With two of India’s promising players sidelined, it will be a test of both depth and resilience for the squad as they aim to bounce back in Manchester.
