Sanju Samson celebrates after smashing 13 runs off one ball

Highlights:

  • Sanju Samson smashed 13 runs off one ball in KCL.
  • His explosive form raises pressure on Shubman Gill.
  • Asia Cup selection debate intensifies after Samson’s heroics.

Sanju Samson Hits 13 in One

Sanju Samson’s recent performance in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) is truly worth watching. Scoring 13 runs on a single ball feels nothing short of magic. When Thrissur Titans bowler Sijomon Joseph bowled the fourth delivery of the over, it turned out to be a no-ball. Samson smashed it for a six. On the following free-hit, he again sent the ball over the boundary, making it two sixes on a single ball and collecting 13 runs for KCL.

Samson’s Performance in Two Matches

In this innings, Sanju scored 89 runs off 46 balls at a strike rate of nearly 193.48, which included 4 fours and 9 sixes. In the previous match, he had scored 121 runs off 51 balls with 14 fours and 7 sixes. He completed his half-century in just 16 balls, and required only 42 deliveries to reach his century.

Mohammed Ashik Play Important Role for KCL

The match was so thrilling that it went down to the last ball. KCL needed 6 runs off the final delivery, which their batter Ashik sealed with a six, giving them victory.

Across two innings, Sanju’s explosive performances have sent a powerful message ahead of the Asia Cup. His form is raising tough questions for the selectors—will the team management slot him in the middle order, or give him a chance to open? Aakash Chopra has already said that after Gill’s return, it might be difficult for Samson to find a place in the playing XI.

However, the way Sanju has been batting with aggression and explosiveness has strengthened his claim for the Asia Cup. His remarkable performances may force the selectors to reconsider.

Sanju has already batted at number six in the Kerala Cricket League, and according to some reports, he could feature in the middle order instead of opening. That’s because Shubman Gill has been appointed vice-captain for the Asia Cup and is expected to open.
