Ishan Kishan was not selected for the Test series against England, so Nottinghamshire signed him to play two matches in the County Championship — one against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge on June 22 and another against Somerset in Taunton on June 29. He will take over the wicketkeeping duties from South Africa’s Kyle Verreynne. Ishan is excited for this opportunity, as it marks his debut in county cricket in England.

According to Times Now, Kishan said, “I’m really excited to get my first opportunity to play county cricket in England. It’s a great chance for me to showcase my skills. I want to make sure I become the best cricketer I can be, and playing in English conditions will truly help me learn new aspects of the game. Trent Bridge is such an iconic ground, known not just in India but around the world, and I’m genuinely thrilled to be playing there.”

Nottinghamshire is currently in a strong position at the top of Division One in the County Championship, having won four out of their seven matches so far. According to head coach Peter Moores, the team is very pleased to have Ishan’s services for the next two Championship games.

Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores said, “We’re all really pleased to have Ishan with us for the next two Championship matches while Kyle is away with South Africa. He brings proven quality in ball-striking as a hard-hitting middle-order batter. Although he’s still developing his red-ball game, this stint will be really beneficial — both for him and for us.”
