Jhon Durán has joined Fenerbahçe

In a sensational move, 21-year-old Colombian striker Jhon Durán has joined Fenerbahçe on loan from Al-Nassr, just six months after his €77 million switch to the Saudi Pro League. The deal, confirmed by Transfermarkt, is a straight loan with no buy option included.

A Quick Turnaround

Durán arrived at Al-Nassr in January 2025 after a dazzling spell at Aston Villa, but despite forming a partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and netting 12 goals in 18 games, he has now made a swift exit amid reports of internal conflicts at the Saudi club.

Super Lig’s New MVP

Following his move to Fenerbahçe, Durán has instantly become the most valuable player in the Turkish Süper Lig, with a market value of €35 million, surpassing Leroy Sané (€32M). His arrival is seen as a massive coup for Turkish football, and he is expected to lead the attack under manager José Mourinho.

No Buy Clause – But Big Expectations

Though the move is a loan, it’s far from a small deal. Turkish reports estimate the loan fee at €15 million, while Al-Nassr will continue to pay his full salary. The transfer is being viewed as a bold statement of intent by Fenerbahçe, who are desperate to reclaim the league title from rivals Galatasaray.

Expert View

Transfermarkt’s Süper Lig expert Lara Karacan described the move as “widely regarded in Turkey as a major signing.” Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç had promised top-tier reinforcements this summer after another titleless campaign, and Durán is said to be the first of four major arrivals, with Milan Škriniar also strongly linked.

Talent vs. Product

While comparisons to strikers like Victor Osimhen are beginning to emerge, analysts caution that Durán is still in a development phase and not yet the finished product. Still, fans are excited, and his move is being taken as a signal of the club’s rising ambition.

Süper Lig Most Valuable Players (as of 2025):

  • Jhon Durán– €35M (Age 21, Fenerbahçe)
  • Leroy Sané – €32M (Age 29, Galatasaray)
  • Youssef En-Nesyri – €24M (Age 28, Fenerbahçe)
