Pau Víctor Joins SC Braga from FC Barcelona in €15M Deal

Posted on July 26, 2025 By Gkd Sports No Comments on Pau Víctor Joins SC Braga from FC Barcelona in €15M Deal

Spanish forward Pau Víctor has officially completed a permanent move from FC Barcelona to Portuguese side SC Braga in a deal worth up to €15 million (\$16.4M). The transfer includes a five-year contract valid until 2030 and a €50 million (\$54.7M) release clause.

SC Braga’s official transfer statement detailing Pau Víctor's €12M signing and €50M release clause.

Highlights:

  • An initial €12 million (\$13.1M) fixed transfer fee.
  • Up to €3 million (\$3.3M) in potential add-ons based on performance.
  • A five-year contract running through 2030.
  • A €50 million release clause.

This move marks a significant step in the 23-year-old’s career, as he seeks more consistent playing time and a fresh start after a challenging spell at Barcelona.

SC Braga also announced that Barcelona would be responsible for the solidarity payments related to Víctor’s previous clubs, which would be deducted from the final fee.

Why Pau Víctor Left Barcelona

Although Pau Víctor had four years remaining on his contract at Barcelona, his chances of breaking into the starting XI were slim. With Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and new arrival Marcus Rashford ahead of him in the pecking order, his opportunities for regular minutes were limited.

This made it clear that a move away was the best option for his development. After making 29 first-team appearances last season, most of them as a substitute, Víctor decided to seek more stability elsewhere.

A Summer of Departures at Barcelona

Víctor isn’t the only young talent to leave Barcelona this summer. The Catalan club has also seen:

  • Pablo Torre join Mallorca
  • Alex Valle move permanently to Como
  • Ansu Fati go on loan to Monaco

These exits reflect both a reshuffling of the squad and an attempt to stabilize the club’s financial situation. They also follow the breakdown of a potential transfer for Nico Williams, who wanted an exit clause in case of registration issues — something Barcelona refused.

Registration Controversy

Earlier this year, Víctor and Dani Olmo faced a temporary ban from playing for Barcelona due to issues with their sporting licenses. La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation had canceled the licenses, preventing the players from representing the club.

However, the Spanish government eventually overturned the decision, allowing both players to participate for the remainder of the season. Despite this, the instability around his status likely factored into Víctor’s decision to move on.

Pau Víctor came up through Girona’s academy and quickly caught attention for his work rate, movement, and technical ability. After joining Barcelona last summer, he struggled to break into the first team consistently but did gain valuable top-flight experience.

Pau Víctor will be stepping into the shoes of Roberto Fernandez, who left Braga to join Espanyol earlier this month. Braga, who finished fourth in the Primeira Liga last season — behind Porto, Benfica, and champions Sporting — see Víctor as a key piece in their ambition to challenge for the title and secure European competition qualification.

Pau Víctor’s move to Braga is a win-win situation. Barcelona gain financial flexibility and reduce their squad size, while Víctor earns a fresh opportunity to shine in a competitive European league. With a long-term contract and a clear role in the team, the Portuguese club is betting on the Spaniard’s potential to lead their attacking line for years to come.
