With Premier League clubs racing to comply with financial sustainability regulations, West Ham United are reportedly open to selling Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus to rivals Tottenham Hotspur—despite his £85m release clause. According to reports, the Hammers might settle for a significantly lower bid, with Spurs considering a £60m offer.

Financial Pressure at West Ham

West Ham’s need to balance the books before making any big summer moves is pushing them toward difficult decisions. The club is under mounting PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) pressure and needs to make sales before investing in new players. While Kudus is seen as one of their brightest talents, the club’s financial constraints may force a premature sale.

Although West Ham would prefer not to sell to Spurs—given the rivalry—they are willing to be pragmatic. Kudus would become the first West Ham player to move directly to Tottenham since Scott Parker in 2011.

Kudus: Talented But Misaligned?

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax for £37m, had a strong debut season but struggled during the second, scoring just four goals. He reportedly clashed with former coach Julen Lopetegui and was later suspended for five games after being sent off against Spurs. Now, with new coach Graham Potter at the helm, the club is unsure whether Kudus fits the tactical setup, despite his evident ability.

Potter is reportedly open to selling Kudus, who plays on the right wing—a position already occupied by team captain and fan favorite Jarrod Bowen.

Competition Brewing

Tottenham aren’t the only club interested in Kudus. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle are also tracking the versatile 24-year-old, who can play in all three forward positions. However, Chelsea may be out of the race after agreeing deals for Jamie Gittins and João Pedro.

Meanwhile, Spurs are looking to reinforce their attack under new manager Thomas Frank. They’re keeping tabs on several names, including Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), and Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), but Kudus remains a top target.

Tammy Abraham to Besiktas

In other transfer news, former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is set to join Turkish side Besiktas in a club-record €15m (£12.9m) deal from Roma. After spending last season on loan at AC Milan, Abraham will now work under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, recently appointed as Besiktas manager.

Bottom Line: West Ham’s financial situation could pave the way for a major Premier League transfer, with Spurs hoping to land a bargain deal for a high-potential talent in Mohammed Kudus. With other top clubs circling, the next few weeks could be decisive.
